The best way of describing my time so far living in Malta.
When I was living in the UK I had some great opportunities for my work but it never seemed to be enough for me, I always wanted more. Also, the weather never helped because not just in my working life but in my personal life I couldn’t do much outdoors to the standard I wanted.
That’s when I decided it was time for a change. Me and my girlfriend decided to save up, book a one-way flight to a sunny destination and start a new chapter of our lives together. In August 2017, we moved to Malta! Since the move, I’ve gone from strength to strength and I am loving it and the best thing is, due to the work I do I still get to keep my amazing clients in the UK, it’s a win-win for me.
The first few months I spent building working relationships and contacts in Malta, I had a full-time job working as a web designer for AX Hotels, one of the leading hotel companies in Malta so my business was run part-time in the evenings and weekends. Doing that takes a lot of work and many hours put in but it was worth it in the end.
Within 4 or 5 months I had built up enough clients and secured so much regular work that I decided to leave my job and start the business full-time, that’s when it all got real. I had finally started doing what I had been longing to do for over a year.
Fast forward to now. I have an extensive list of clients both in the UK and Malta who I absolutely love working with. Plus, I get to go filming in some incredible places of this little island I now call home.
I have no regrets about moving to Malta and setting up my business and to those who are thinking of taking that risk and starting something that they really want to do, I say why wait? Follow your dreams because it really does pay off.
And as always, Stay Tropical!
